We're going to pick up the last scripture Pastor Petey ended with last Sunday. How many of you are grateful for Pastor Petey's message last week? Phenomenal orator of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I bless God for her. I'm expectant today. I believe God is going to speak to you. And I believe you're going to leave differently than the way you came. For if the word of God does not bring about change, then the word of God is not alive. The word of God does not bring about change, and the word of God is not true. But it is alive. And it is true. And Scripture says it is sharp like a two-edged sword. And when applied, it not only changes you, it transforms you. So I believe you're going to be transformed, and your faith is going to be built today. Acts chapter 8, beginning at verse number 8. So there was much rejoicing in that city. Now there was a man named Simon who previously was practicing magic in the city and astonishing the people of Samaria, claiming to be someone great. And all the people, from small to great, were paying attention to him, saying, This man is what is called the great power of God. Verse number eight says, So there was much rejoicing in that city. This joy came after Philip preached Christ in Samaria. Demons were being cast out, the sick were being healed, the lame were getting hold, the captives were being set free, those that were in bondage were understanding what freedom and liberty felt like, because the gospel of Jesus Christ was being preached in Samaria. The reason they rejoiced is because Samaria had been spiritually fractured for centuries. The Jews viewed Samaritans as compromised, a mixed breed, less than a demographic of people that were looked down upon, looked over, spiritually corrupt. Yet revival breaks out in the very place religion looked down on. The enemy had occupied Samaria spiritually for a long time before revival came. But joy hit Samaria. The reason joy hit Samaria is because joy is the evidence that spiritual oppression has lost its authority. And how can you tell when you're no longer living under spiritual oppression? When joy is at work in your life? How can you tell when you're no longer bound, but in fact you are free when joy hits your life? How can you tell when things about your future will be different than your past when joy hits your life? How can you tell your marriage is going to survive the rocky season that it's in right now when joy hits your life? Because joy does not enter the equation when things go well. Joy is consistent. It is the silver lining, it is given to you by the power of the Holy Spirit and infuses you in good seasons and bad seasons because joy is not dictated or determined by what happens to you or around you. It is determined by who you know. Who you know. And if you know Jesus and if you know the power of the Holy Spirit, you understand that in his presence there is fullness of joy, and at his right hand there are pleasures forevermore. So it's not what you know, it's who you know, and sometimes what you know does not open the door for you, it's who you know that opens the door for you. Sometimes what you know does not bring favor and increase in your life. It's who you know that brings favor and increase in your life. And I wonder right here at the very beginning of today's message, do you know who he is? Do you know that you're a child? Do you know that you are a son and a daughter of the Most High God? Do you know that there is power at work on the inside of you? Do you know that the gifts of God are given to you for you to utilize for such a time as this? Do you know? Do you know? You know, because if you know him, you know what you won't respond to. When you know what he called you, you don't respond to any other name. When you know that he called you a son and a daughter of the Most High God, you don't respond to any other name that the enemy may be calling you. And so sometimes you don't realize how dark the room you are in is until someone else comes in and turns the light on. And some of you have been dibbling and dabbling in mixed spirituality. Fake fire, a counterfeit, a replica. And you have moments where you feel free. And then it's almost like as soon as you acknowledge freedom, you're right back in bondage again. Because you have a fake fire. Verse number nine says, Now there was a man named Simon. Simon likely practiced a mixture of occult spirituality, sorcery, astrology, mysticism, and he utilized these things to spiritually manipulate people through performance. The Greek word for magic in this text, it is connected to practices involving enchantments, occult influences, spiritual manipulation. Look at me for a second. A person can stand behind a pulpit and read a scripture and say what that scripture says and manipulate that scripture and lead people away from Jesus and closer to themselves. And that is witchcraft. Witchcraft isn't always oogly-boogly, abracadabra. Satan knows scripture. Can quote scripture probably better than some of you can. And you think because they are saying scripture and quoting scripture that they are being used by God. They are not being used by God. Anytime someone takes scripture and they utilize it for selfish gain, that is witchcraft. Simon is practicing witchcraft. This magic that he was practicing, this was not Hollywood entertainment. This is not October 31st Halloween activities. Because we have commercialized witchcraft now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It ain't that bad. That's the same thing Satan said to Adam and Eve in the garden. Did God really say? And we mix and mingle occult practices with Christianity. This magic that scripture teaches, people feared it. Others trusted it. Some paid for it. Others built their identities around it. And the issue is not necessarily what the specific practice was, it's the heart behind why he's practicing it in the first place. Anything that invites spiritual dependence outside of Jesus becomes spiritually dangerous. Anytime you try to garner spiritual power and spiritual authority separate from Jesus, it becomes spiritually dangerous. We have these modern practices that we have now relabeled to fit our culture and society, but they are still all witchcraft. Terror cards, demonic, psychics, demonic, astrology, demonic, angel numbers, demonic. Well, Pastor, is it that serious? Haven't you been confused as to why you feel the way you feel? Why your mind seems foggy? Why doors seem to be closing? Why relationships seem to be falling apart? It's because you've opened the door for a demon and entertained him, and you don't even know who he is because you have not even asked him what his name is. You're sitting here entertaining demons and labeling them by what day you were born. You don't even go by your name. What are you, Sagittarius? Try to help other people figure out what day sign is. What day was you born? Oh, oh, you you're an Aquarius, you're an Aquarius. You just open the door. Saying, come on in, little demons. Have dinner with me. Can't sleep at night, stressed, fearful, worried, suffering from anxiety, depression, oppression, possession, because you are mixing spirituality with what can only be described as witchcraft. Manifestations, speaking to the universe instead of the person that made it. Crystals, sage, smudging, reiki, transferring of spirits, spiritual guides, witch talk on TikTok, moon rituals, law of attraction, spirituality centering your chakra. I can't do that. Throw's my chakras off. Have to go get my chakra centered. Yoga. Don't even know how it started. You just up in there humming. You don't get your tail up off that ground. Opening up stuff in your soul and in your spirit, man, and get in the word of God and find out what Jesus came and he laid his life down to free you from, and here you are, opening the door and welcoming all these demonic spirits of oppression and depression in your life. Don't like church, but like spiritual things. I'm not a Christian, I'm just spiritual. You can't be spiritual without the spirit of God. There is only one way to the Father. There is only one way to inherit the kingdom of heaven, and that is through the Son Jesus. And if that is not the only way, that means Jesus is a lion. And Jesus cannot lie because the word of God teaches us that he is the truth and the light. And no one goes to the Father except through him. There are not many pathways and not many ways and not many doors. I don't care what that person says, that little monk and that specialist and that that guru. And I don't care what they are saying and what they are selling you. There is only one way to the Father, and his name is Jesus. And it is him that we depend on, it is him that we rely on. And if he does not set you free, you will remain bound for the rest of your life and have what I can only define as fake fire. And a lot of churches are filled with fake fire. A lot of pulp pits are filled with fake fire. And we have gotten so focused on the entertainment of people that we have forgotten the transformational power of God. So we go to palm readers to tell us about our future. Instead of the word of God. No, no, but he came and visited me in a dream. You talking to a demon, a familiar spirit that is not from God. Don't entertain it, don't communicate, don't have conversation. Say in the name of Jesus, I cast you out and send you back to where you came from. My dad is with the Father, enjoying eternity on the streets paved with gold. And what I am doing now is living my life in such a way that one day I will see them again when I meet Jesus. I don't got time to entertain nobody coming, saying they my daddy. My dad been gone for 24 years. Sitting here talking, oh yeah, I had a conversation last night. Talking to a demon. Sitting here calling these 1-800 numbers, fake fire, paying for prophecies, paying for prophecies. $77. You get a word from the Lord. Ah, word from the Lord. The word of God says you are going to be free. Well, if you just read what the book says, you understand what the mind of God is for your life. I wish that we had more discerning believers that don't get to look to the left or to the right, they can go right to the word of God and know that for me and my house. Sitting here looking to get your flesh tickled and your ears entertained. Fake fire. Want to hear every message talking about blessing and breakthrough. Fake fire. Want to hear every single Sunday? I'm blessed going in and blessed going out. Fake fire. Want to hear a prosperity gospel that will teach you that whatever you do, God is going to bless. And when you give, he's going to open up the windows of heaven and gold is going to come out, and you're going to receive lucky term type blessings. No, fake fire. What we need is the word of God, the unadulterated truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ that sets the captives free and allows us to experience what real and authentic fire looks like. Got altars in your house. Saying you're a Christian but practicing Santa Maria. Got little altars with candles and Mary and Peter and all these figures, and there is no power in those altars. There is only power in surrendering your life as a living sacrifice on the altar of God. And if it is not on the altar of God, you have made an altar for demons, and your house will be ridiculed because of it. Fake fire. That is what Simon is demonstrating. A fake Fire. The greatest form of manipulation is not the spells he cast. It is not the routine of rituals he practiced. It is found in a statement that is powerful and profile. The greatest form of witchcraft is found in this statement. Claiming to be someone great. Claiming to be someone great. The spirit behind witchcraft has always craved control, attention, and a counterfeit glory. If you got the claim to be someone great, then you're not great at all. If you got the claim to be someone great, that's almost as pathetic as you singing your own birthday song. Satan fail because he wanted worship. And witchcraft is often humanity trying to gain spirituality without surrendering to God. What culture calls manifestation, spiritual energy, harmless astrology, terror curiosity, speaking things into existence apart from God, crystals New Age spirituality, burning sage for spiritual cleaning, universe worship, or obsession with psychics and mediums, scripture often places under the category of forbidden spiritual practices because those things seek supernatural guidance, protection, and identity separate from God. Oftentimes it looks normal. So normal that you'll take your kids to go see it. You'll pay for it. Take them to a movie that's casting spells. Sit there and giggle at it. One of the things I've learned about the enemy is if he can get you to laugh at it, he can get you to accept it. I don't want to hear that because now I'm messing up things you got planned. You even buy them a little cloak, a little wand, draw a little lightning bolt on their forehead. Ah, it's harmless. What looks harmless now will position you in your season next to be hopeless. The danger is not that it always looks evil. The danger is that it often looks normal. The enemy's favorite strategy is not making darkness obvious. It's making darkness acceptable. Verse number ten says, all the people were paying attention to him. From small to great. Poor people believed him, influential people believed him. The city had collectively agreed that counterfeit power was divine power, and they called Simon the great power of God. Because people can become so spiritually undiscerning that they mistake demonic influence for divine activity. Not every spiritual experience is holy, and not every supernatural moment is from God. When people stop knowing Scripture, they start calling counterfeit power holy. And that's why you can come into a service like this and you can hear the word of God and not apply the word of God and leave the same way that you came. Because you've been in a dark room so long, you don't know what light looks like until you discover it. Sometimes when we live in environments that are so toxic for so long, peace feels unsafe. And so we would rather go back to what's familiar, intoxicity, than freedom that looks unfamiliar. The reason we do that is because we are still tethered to the past. It's your identity, it's what you found yourself in, it's all you've ever known, it's who you have become. You have become what you hoped you would never become because you are separate from the Father. And now you have a fake fire. This word astonished it carries the idea of being mentally captivated, being overwhelmed, hypnotized, entertained, and anything that captures your fascination will eventually capture your allegiance. Did you hear what I said? Anything that captures your fascination will eventually capture your allegiance. Down to the movies we watch. Been fascinated by twilight. And so we ask people the question which are you? Teen or teen fascinated by Harry Potter. So we ask the questions, are you teen or teen? I don't want to be called anything that sounds like hogwarts. And just listen to what we say. Because we're fascinated by it. And anything we get fascinated by, we give our allegiance to. And y'all will walk around a hot theme park with a black robe on and a maroon scarf and a little woman, but you can't come to church on time. Grown adults looking like they are a part of the choir of the Church of Satan in universal studios, but can't come to church on time. What world do we live in? Fake fire. It may make you obsessed, but holy fire makes you free. Harry Potter can't heal you, can't set you free. Twilight can't deliver you, can't remove demons out of your life. These things cannot break chains, remove yokes, destroy burdens. Only a holy fire given to us by the power of the Holy Spirit has the power to set the captives free. And the word of God says, where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And the last time I checked, the Spirit of the Lord was here right now, which means freedom is available to you if you have faith by it today, if you feel tormented in your mind, if you feel stressed in your life, if you feel anxiety in your chest, freedom is available to you right now. Point number one is this. Just because it's common doesn't mean it's clean. I don't care what they say on TV. I don't care what your favorite guru is trying to teach you on social media, just because it's common does not mean that it is clean. Just because people are doing it does not mean you and your household should participate. Just because it has become commercial does not mean that it is sanctified and righteous and holy and acceptable unto God. Just because of the people that you know are putting these things in their routine and on their calendars and in their rhythms does not mean that it's what God desires for you to do. Just because it is common does not mean that it is clean. And what culture and society has done, it is normalized what scripture warns us against. And the word of God says that in the last days people will call truth lies and lies truth. And the danger is that hell rarely enters a culture looking dangerous, it often enters a culture or a person looking desirable. You want to know how hell came into your life. Hell came into your life in that six foot three frame. You want to know how hell came into your life. Hell came into your life with heels and red lipstick. You want to know how hell came into your life accepting a job without praying to God first for. You want to know how hell came into your life rushing and manipulating and manufacturing your own breakthroughs and your miracles and your season, then you wonder why you have no peace. You wonder why your mind is being tormented. You wonder why your chest is tight like you're having a heart attack. It is because you have allowed unclean things into your spiritual environment. And it is not until you repent and ask the Holy Spirit to cut every tie from your past and deliver you from every burden that has rested on you that you experience a freedom that you thought was impossible to experience. Oh, what starts as curiosity always ends in captivity. And some of you have been real curious. I'm just searching, past. I'm searching for truth and spiritual things, and I'm just searching for the right answer. I'm just searching for the things that I'm supposed to be doing. Well, have you searched Jesus? No, I want to search over here. I want to search Hare Krishna. I want to search all these different religions. I want to search the church of Mormons. I want to search what it means to serve Allah. I want to search what it means to be a Hindu and pray to all these different gods. I'm on a search. You can search all your life. You can look high and low. You can take your little bon voyage over to India and miss the Savior who's been standing beside you this whole time. Waiting on you to just turn. Salvation is as close as your ability to surrender. And some of y'all are paying all this money to go on these retreats. And all you got to do is go to your bed. Drop down on your knees. Ask the Lord to save you, heal you, set you free, deliver you. You don't got to pay thousands of dollars to go over to Bali for some yoga retreat. You can go right to your closet and drop down on your knees. And the word of God says that when I call on the name of the Lord, I will be saved. I am so tired of churches with fake fire, people who profess Christ with fake fire, people who say they're followers of Jesus Christ with fake fire. No, we need a holy fire that will burn out of us the hell we've been stewarding in our lives and allow us to become reflections of the glory and the grace of Jesus Christ. And it never starts off with worship to the enemy. It always starts off with attention. And if the enemy can just grab your attention, eventually he will have your worship. And you'll start making excuses for your sin. Just a little bit here and there. It's not a problem. Just a little pornography here and there. It's not a problem. My wife knows about it. She's okay with it. My husband knows about it. He's okay with it. And you start inviting these things into your bedroom. Wondering why you're never satisfied and fulfilled. It's because you have these things hidden. Tucked away. You've agreed with these things. Because in your mind you've defined them as not that bad. The reason you define them as not that bad is because you like doing them. And so your praise on Sunday. And talk crazy when you leave church. Absolutely crazy. Like the type of language you would never say in front of Jesus. Witchcraft ain't always spoken. Sometimes witchcraft is you not being able to control with words that come out of your mouth. You don't gotta like it. You know I'm telling you the truth. Because you know as soon as it comes out of your mouth, the Holy Spirit places his finger right down your spirit. Hey, you shouldn't have said that. You shouldn't have said it like that. You shouldn't have done that. Because you're too prideful, you can't say, you know what, you're right. I'm wrong. You can't lift your hands and worship one second and then be cursing out your spouse when you leave. That's a fake fire. Number two. Counterfeit power always demands attention. According to Scripture, Simon built influence by making people amazed with him instead of surrendered and submitted to God. Real revival, a real move of the Holy Spirit, a real fire points people to Jesus. A counterfeit spirituality draws people to themselves. Any spirit that makes a man or a woman bigger than Jesus is a spirit of witchcraft. Because God's power always produces surrender, not selfishness. Did you hear what I said? God's power always produces surrender and not selfishness. Some people don't want transformation though, they want fascination. They want to be entertained. They want to marvel and be entertained. But leave the same way. But if you're going to experience freedom, you have to have your mind made up. I'm not mixing and maxling any fake fire with what the Holy Spirit desires to do in and through me. Point number three is this. The crowd was impressed by Simon, but they were healed by Jesus. Scripture says they were astonished with his abilities to do magic. But they were healed by Jesus. Jesus didn't come to impress you, he came to free you. Did you hear what I said? Jesus did not come to impress you, he came to free you. Simon amazed people, but Philip liberated them with the gospel of Jesus Christ. One produced astonishment, the other produced joy. How do you know when you're still bound, when you're astonished, but you're still in shackled? How do you know when you're free, when you have joy, even if it's in the midst of trials and tribulations? What is the greatest sign of freedom in your life? Joy. What is the greatest sign of peace in your life? Joy. What is the greatest sign that you are in the presence of God? Joy. If there is a lack of joy, there is a lack of the presence of God in your life. Why? Because in his presence there is fullness of joy and pleasures at his right hand forevermore. So I encourage you right now to check and audit your joy tank. Are you full of joy, or is your joy tank half empty? If it's half empty, I encourage you to tap back into the presence of God. How do you tap into the presence of God? It's simple. You lift your hands and say, God, I thank you for life. I thank you for health. I thank you for breath in my lungs. I thank you for the blessings. I thank you for the breaking. I thank you for this day. For this is the day that you have made. I have my mind made up. I'm gonna choose to rejoice, being made glad in it. How do you get into the presence of God? You get into the presence of God by praising and worshiping and thanking Him. How do I know this? Because the word of God says that when there are two or three gathered in my name, then I am in the midst of them. The word of God says he inhabits the praises of his people. So if you feel distant from God right now, begin to rejoice, begin to praise him, begin to lift up your hands, begin to open up your mouth and watch God inhabit your praise. A fake fire could never produce real fruit. A fake fire could never break chains, a fake fire can never destroy yokes, a fake fire can never remove burdens. Only a real, authentic holy fire can do that. And what we need now more than ever before is a holy fire to consecrate our lives and burn the hell a lot of us and get every impurity out of us and allow us to stay put in the fire long enough to reflect the person that made us in the first place. And if you are in the fire today, and if you are in the fire today, and if you are in the fire today, I'm telling you, stay put long enough for God to see his image on the inside of you. For greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. No more do we have time for faith fires. We need a holy fire from God. One produced astonishment, the other produced joy. See, freedom creates joy that entertainment never can. One thing you'll learn about a demon. If you pay close attention, demons love performances. But God loves deliverance. So that you could try to dismantle your faith and build it over again. So that you could go on a spiritual journey. No, no, he died so that you would exchange your life for his. He didn't die so that you could be spiritually curious. He died so that you could be spiritually free. And I just came to tell somebody today freedom is possible. I said, freedom is possible. I know when you're in the middle of the dark season, it seems like freedom is impossible. You haven't seen the light in a long time, but I'm telling you, freedom is possible. Peace for your mind is possible, peace for your soul is possible, the joy of the Lord is possible. I'm telling you, you will encounter a peace that surpasses all of your natural understanding because freedom is possible. You do not have to leave the same way that you can. You do not have to leave bound, you do not have to leave in shackles, you do not have to leave in chains, you do not have to leave burdened down by the weights of this life. Freedom is possible. And today, if you're here and you're in this room, or maybe you're watching online, be a celebration everywhere, and you desire freedom for whatever has been holding you and locking you up and chaining you right now. Just jump up on your feet and lift your hands. Right now, some of you haven't been able to sleep. You've been having night terrors, you've been battling depression, you've been battling anxiety, you've been battling fear, you've been overwhelmed by life circumstances, and it seems like every which way you turn, there is another block. There's another hindrance. There's another roadblock that keeps you from doing the things God desires you to do. And I just came to tell you, freedom is possible. Freedom is possible. Freedom is possible. How do I know it's possible? Because for the sun that says it's free. Freedom from addiction. Freedom from anger. Freedom from unforgiveness. Freedom from bitterness. Freedom from disappointment. Freedom from sickness, disease, and infirmary. Freedom for your mind. Freedom for your kids. Freedom for your grandkids. Freedom. Freedom is possible. We're here right now. You got some habits, you got some addictions. That you need the power of the Holy Spirit to break, get to this altar.

Come on. There are more of you. There are more of you. You got a decision. You can leave the same or you can leave transformed and your mind renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Some of you are on the verge of losing everything that you love because you're not willing to break the habits that you've been bound in. But I'm telling you, freedom is possible. Come on, we got plenty of room all the way over here, all the way over there. And when you get here, just lift your hands. And if you're still out there, then you stretch your hands towards your brothers and your sisters that are down here.
